Possibly, but the way the quote is used in _Blazing Saddles_ certainly feels like it’s a reference to something earlier. Your story reminded me of one from my mother. She went to see _Young Frankenstein_ with a friend. At the line “pardon me boy, is this the Transylvania station?” they were the only two who laughed. Mel Brooks has a gift for that, I guess. ---
