Karl Malden in **Patton** Malden’s real name was Mladen Sekulovich. When the character he was playing – General Omar Bradley – lost his helmet under fire, he asked his driver to get him another (I think from a fallen soldier), and he called that soldier by his own real last name. Malden, I understand, tried to work in self-references like that. ---
