I used the quotes as the epigraph to chapter 6 of my book **Medusa** , in which I point out that the star “Mira” didn’t actually get that name until the year 1603. I don’t know why they left out “Mira” in the movie script, but it’s worth pointing out that Skeikh Ilderim wouldn’t have used _Aldebaran_ or _Rigel_ or _Altair_, either – these are medieval Arabic names. There’s a pretty good chance that he wouldn’t have used the name _Antares_ either, which is a Greek name. ---
