Weigh the odds any way you like, for any reason you like: your own dedication (or lack thereof) to the relationship, your perceived desirability to others, the likelihood your current relationship will last until you die, whatever external or internal reasons you think are important. If you are not currently having sex with anyone, then I guess there is no difference between this poll and the other one linked above. Feel free to explain why you answered how you did. For me, I would say 0 to 10%. I’m married and I am more than ten years older than my current wife, so I am likely to die first. I’m 51 and paunchy. I am not terribly outgoing or “smoov wif da ladies,” and prostitution is illegal where I live, so that doesn’t work for me. The only reason why I allow a nonzero possibility is because, well, anything can happen. ---

Probably 30-40%. My husband is 22 years older than me and not in great health, so it’s likely he’ll predecease me. While I’m not the catch I was in my 20s, I’m not ruling out a relationship later in life. After all, he found someone (me!) when he was nearly 60, fat, and male! (I really do love him bunches, I promise. Just being…realistic.) ---

By the way,when I read your first response, I thought “excellent post/name combo.” My first incarnation of this poll was going to have even greater granularity: 18 to 24, 25 to 40, 41 to 60, 60 and over, and double that again for people in casual relationships versus commited relationships, and then I realized that was insane, because it would result in 56 choices. ---

I’m under 40, and I voted “eh, it could happen” because I’m not sure what the future holds. It’s a possibility, but almost certainly not in the short term because of my current relationship situation. I’d probably venture that it’s at the lower end of the pretty broad range that 31% - 70% covers, though. ---

Despite what some may think I can restrain myself. The only question on this for _me_ is: “Will my spouse pass on before I’ve decided I’ve had enough of that particular activity?” (she’s about 11 years older than I am so we’ll see) ---

Over 40 (over 60 actually), \<10% chance. Basically, there’s some small chance that my wife would die while I’m still young enough to be interested in sex, and able to find someone who’s interested in having sex with me. But it’s a very small chance, and I hope it stays that way. ---

I’m 59. My MIL lived to be 97 and my FIL to be 83, so it is unlikely that my wife will pre-decease me. And sooner rather than later I am going to be too old to be able to interest anyone. I have kind of put all my eggs in one basket, but it is a pretty cute basket. Regards, Shodan ---

I’m 69, and my partner is 49. I’m blessed that I have a partner who can accommodate my health issues, however long that may last. In the unlikely possibility that I may survive him, or that we may separate, I probably won’t be hooking up with anyone else. On the other hand . . . a permanent 3-some is a possibility. ---

I’m married but will soon be divorced, I’m about to turn 30 so I’m 99-100% sure I will have a different sexual partner though I will probably not date for at least a year after the divorce is final. So unless I get hit by a bus or something it’s almost a 100% guarantee that it will happen eventually. ---

I put it as “Under 40 not likely” Unless I can convince her for a threesome, and even then I doubt she would go as far as penetration on the third party. I’m also fairly certain I’ll die before her but I guess I won’t rule anything out ---

I’ve been married for 35 years. If we stay married for another 35 years, I’ll be 98 years old and probably not that interested in sex. There’s a possibility that my wife could die before me, of course. But given my track record when I was in my 20’s, I can’t believe I’m going to get a lot more action now that I’m old. ---
