A lot of people seem to be writing off sex in old age. You folks should Google for STDs in retirement homes. Apparently, old people are getting a lot more of it than we whippersnappers are giving them credit for. Anyway, me personally: my wife is older than I am by a large enough margin that I’m virtually certain I’ll wind up with another partner eventually. The chance that I don’t amounts to the odds that I’m run over by a bus, die of an early heart attack, etc. (And don’t interpret this as me looking forward to it… it’s just how the odds are likely to play out.) ---

I’m 48, same as my wife. She’s much healthier than I am, so it’s unlikely she will predecease me. However in love we seem to be after 16 years of marriage you never know. So I put down 1-10%. Probably closer to 1%. Strangely I seem to be more attractive to women now that I am older, fatter and creakier. A devoted Dad seems to be irresistible to some women. So if I was back on the market I feel like I’d have more takers than I did at half my age. ---

My husband and I have agreed that it’s likely that he’ll die before me. He works shift work, and I think I’ve read that it’s statistically likely for you to die sooner than you would otherwise if you work shift work. He also works in a pretty dangerous job, and he’s addicted to tobacco (chewing tobacco, not cigarettes, but I believe chewing tobacco carries an elevated risk of dying as well). So it’s likely he’ll die before me (though certainly not guaranteed), and I imagine if he died then at some point I would take up dating again. However, I’m not really a fan of sex, and if I start dating again as a senior citizen, perhaps I could just find a man whose libido has died down with age, and we wouldn’t get frisky. With that reasoning, I answered Under 40: Eh, it could happen (31-70%). ---

I’m 63. If my wife outlives me, 0%. I’m pretty healthy - but her father is 99 and in great shape, so I put down 10%. Assuming all the parts are working, of course. I understand older men are in demand … ---

I wanted to put 0%. I can’t imagine the scenario where I have sex with another woman, but I guess it’s not zero and closer to 0.0000001% (Something like, as my wife is dying she begs me to have sex with her newest friend who just happens to be Kerry Washington). My romantinc side says 0, my statistical side says nonzero. ---
