Single malt scotch. Actually, just an email – sent to me from the email account that controls your SDMB registration. TubaDiva @ aol com. And give me three chosen names, ranked in the order you prefer them – once a name is already taken, that’s it, so sometimes you don’t get your first choice. I’ll go down the list and the first name not already being used is your new name. (Though scotch and chocolate are nice choices too. Just saying.) ---

You tell us your favorite and send two backup choices in case that name is taken (or not allowed for some reason). ---

The only reasons you wouldn’t get the name of your choice is: 1. The name is already taken. 2. The name is against our rules in terms of acceptability. (Offensive, vulgar, just not right.) Most people get their first choice but we do have something like 121,000 registrations and with that many there’s bound to be some choices that are not available. ---

Ok, thx for the answers. I already checked if my possible future name was already used, it doesnt appear to be so, and it’s not offensive nor vulgar (I cant say for it “not being right”). I’ll have to warm up my meninge fluid to come up with the two others required (anyway, I’ll probably ask for the change for my one year at the Dope, so mid september). ---

If you change your name, do all old posts get retroactively relabeled with the new name, or do they retain your old name? ---
