So congress may pass a law to rid the team of the name Redskins. OK what should the new name be? The Washington Hogs? ---

Congress can pass such a law? I just checked the Washington Post website and I don’t see any Congressional movement on this front. Oh, ok. 10 members of Congress “urge” Snyder to do something via a letter. That’s not “passing a law.” ---

As Fox notes, “Lawmakers have alerted the NFL that Congress introduced legislation that would amend the 1946 Trademark Act and cancel any trademark that used the term ‘redskin.’” That bill, H.R. 1278, would eliminate one of Snyder’s money-making avenues, removing the trademark protection that prevents other organizations from marketing Redskins gear. ---

I’m too lazy to look for a link, but Snyder has vowed to never change the name. If they do change the name, they could become the Washington Potomacs. That way they can even keep the native American regalia. ---
