Well, there’s a premium at Pike Place. And they were the only ones who had the size. I did manage to not buy their $40/pound smoked salmon.

Yeah, but your oysters probably come with frequent flyer miles! 😉

**Johnny L.A.** , how big are talking for the large oyster? Size of the meat, not the shell. I’m curious as to how they compare with Apalachicola Bay oysters.

Your water. How’s it your water when it comes out of our lake? 'Course this year there’s plenty to go 'round.

Probably about 1-2 measuring tablespoons.

Okay, so slightly larger than what we generally get down here. Although the nicer ones can top 1 tblsp. Definitely not gonna find those this time of year though.

It’s a complete hijack, so let’s just drop it or move it to another thread. Suffice it to say that Atlanta’s use of water - thus reducing the flow in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin - has had a measurable effect on Apalachicola’s seafood industry which includes oysters.

Here’s a NY Times article about it:

> **[A Fight Over Water, and to Save a Way of Life (Published 2013)](https://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/03/us/thirst-for-fresh-water-threatens-apalachicola-bay-fisheries.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0)**
>
> A decades-long war over river flow into Apalachicola Bay in Florida has contributed to the collapse of the oyster industry there.
