# Charity donation instead of Christmas cards - and sending your friends the receipt. Crass?

It’s not particularly hard to donate \*and \*send out Christmas cards. Strikes me as lazy, but whatever. I wouldn’t be unfriendly with someone who did this, but the braggadocio would make me think a little less of them.

I mean really. I sent out 18 Christmas cards this year and it only cost me $12.

Yes it is crass! Especially the receipt bit.

If you choose to do this, I would prefer that the charity **NOT** have any contact information on me. Otherwise you have just subjected me to many years of hassle from folks I would just as soon not deal with. Thanks a lot pal!

If you want to donate in my name, ask me what charities I donate to, then your “gift” is at least to something I support.
