He’s an idiot alright. Just another “superpatriot” that never volunteered to fight in the wars he supports, probably has a gang of attorneys and accountants and tax shelters so he doesn’t have to pay much tax to the USA he so loudly supports, and thinks his status as a one (maybe two) hit wonder gives him intimate detailed knowledge of every possible subject. ---

I first became aware of Mr Daniels’ website when he wrote his (in)famous “Open Letter To The Hollywood Bunch” which even made it to “snopes” [http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/daniels01.asp](http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/daniels01.asp) . Since then, I have visited it from time to time just to see how spooky things are getting. Yes, it’s scary to hear this guy spouting his right bullshit and equally scary to see his fanbase respond to his “editorials”. As I’ve said _many_ times, if these right-wing religious zealots (Daniels, Falwell, Robertson, et al) want to renounce the “Godless” science that preaches Evolution, don’t be half-assed about it. Give up those computers, television cameras, credit cards and go preach in the middle of a field. ---

It’s possible, but somehow I have my doubts. Anyone can put some words in a song. Maybe there’s a cite that can tell us. If so, I will back off on that item and hammer on other stuff instead. I like his songs (they are kind of catchy), but I don’t much like him. ---

I have always liked his older, more gritty music, produced in the 70’s. Of course, that was long before he came out like this, we’re talking 15 years ago. I have very little doubt that I would never, ever contribute to the man’s income ever again after the last 4 years. Sam ---

Are you folks referring to “Still In Saigon”? Why that means Charlie _must_ have served - just like John Wayne making all those movies in which he single-handedly won WW2. Seriously Charlie _never_ served. I believe he has part of his ring finger missing from his right hand due to a high school sawing accident. ---

I did a little bit of searching on my own, and it looks like Charlie (Capn America) Daniels never was in the military. I can go back to bashing him as a hypocritical “superpatriot”. ---

Oh this is delicious. The noisiest and most “wid me or agin me” types, the ones who “play hero” the most never were in any military. The very sort of people they hate as Commies hippies and freaks, were in. 😃 ---

Hendrix was in the Army as a paratrooper. After about a year, he got a medical discharge after breaking his ankle on a jump. Apparently he made 26 more of those jumps than Charlie Daniels did.
