That’s actually a really good idea, and it might help the father live with himself…except for the fact that most reward announcements have weasel words saying something like the reward money will be given for information leading to the arrest _and conviction_ of the perpetrator. So if that is the case, the father wouldn’t get the money until after his son is convicted. If the father does help with paying for a good defense attorney for his son, I suppose he could use the reward money later if he has to mortgage his house or otherwise borrow the money. ---

If there is a chance the reward money could be used to assist the shooter in any capacity, they could refuse to even award it. ---

For me, myself, and I, my feeling is a lot more “angry at the world + specific figures” 22 year old than any unified social/political agenda. Perhaps with a heavy dose of nihilism involved - if he had intended a repeat, confessing to anyone, even family, seems to be foolish (and has proven so). He’s angry, and he wants someone to pay, and Charlie Kirk was nearby and on his (recent by reporting) hate list. So as much opportunity as anything else. ---
