And they’re feuding now in particular, over Kirk’s support for Israel. The Groypers are convinced that he’s “controlled by Jews” and they call him “Charlie K(slur for Jew)”.
If that was the killer, and it is very possible for it to have been, I would have expected slogans alluding to something like that. But yes, it’s too early to actually tell for sure.
That’s actually a really good idea, and it might help the father live with himself…except for the fact that most reward announcements have weasel words saying something like the reward money will be given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
So if that is the case, the father wouldn’t get the money until after his son is convicted. If the father does help with paying for a good defense attorney for his son, I suppose he could use the reward money later if he has to mortgage his house or otherwise borrow the money.
It’s complicated:
If there is a chance the reward money could be used to assist the shooter in any capacity, they could refuse to even award it.
Shame.
I don’t think Groypers do complicated. These are people who think “you’re a Jew” is an argument.
None of those examples have anything to do with the Groypers’ issues with Kirk, so I’m not sure how that’s relevant.
But I also haven’t seen anything that makes me think this guy was a Groyper, so far.
What I’ve seen has been referenced on social media, so some of it’s hard to present here.
But, someone (his mom?) posted his Halloween costume, describing it as an Internet meme. It appears he was dressed as a Groyper.
There’s also some connection showing his name affiliated with a Make America Great Again committee. It’s a form he filled out.
And there’s a post showing that a remix of Bella Ciao is on a “Groyper’s War (America First)” playlist. (It’s also not hard to intuit that a comment about “being gay”‘was not a statement in support of gay rights).
And, of course, you have the direct targeting of Kirk by the Groypers when he did a college tour in 2019. Criticism of him by Groypers like Nick Fuentes was happening just a few weeks ago. Calling him a fascist would be in line with these critiques.
If somebody’s killed, you have to consider the group that aligned itself against him to be the most likely suspect.

For someone who was as intensely Online as this guy, I strongly suspect his first association for “Bella Ciao” is not Money Heist (and definitely not Italian wartime history) but rather the game Far Cry 6.
(Today’s news coverage has also demonstrated to me that there are vast swaths of people who have absolutely no idea what it means to be truly Online, and also that I myself might be too online given that I’m recognizing how wrong the media are getting this stuff.)

Nothing by itself is definitive, but things start to add up when you combine data points.
For me, myself, and I, my feeling is a lot more “angry at the world + specific figures” 22 year old than any unified social/political agenda. Perhaps with a heavy dose of nihilism involved - if he had intended a repeat, confessing to anyone, even family, seems to be foolish (and has proven so).
He’s angry, and he wants someone to pay, and Charlie Kirk was nearby and on his (recent by reporting) hate list. So as much opportunity as anything else.
Has Trump already apologized for blaming liberals for this right-wing atrocity, or is that something he plans to do soon?

Wasn’t that form filled out when the shooter was 17? I didn’t see any solid evidence that it was actually him and not someone with the same name. Unless this is a different form.
If that’s the same playlist I saw earlier, it had like 30 shares total until people came across it post-shooting.
If he is a Groyper, that would be great news.
