Charlie Rangel found guilty of ethics violations

Glad we’re cool. Let’s just say I was a more enthusiastic supporter in 2004 than I was this past Election Day. It’s not great to have to choose between a successful legislator/petty crook and a clown. But I don’t think I am crazy or stupid to have chosen the way I did. Faulker got about 300 votes. Maybe 700,000 people live in the 15h district. Rangel won with over 80% of the vote. I think a lot of people made the same calculation that I did.

If a large meteor “has” to hit the United States I would choose the capital building while it is in full session.

 Well, I can certainly get behind that sentiment as well.

re failing to pay taxes… apparently he failed to report $75k in income over 17 years. If that is gross rents it would be just under $5k per year which isn’t much and would be offset by depreciation and probably interest as well as other expenses like maintenance.

If that is net taxable income the amount owed would be pretty significant if interest and penalties were charged.

Does anybody know how much he repaid in back taxes for the five years?

Is it a fact that he did not pay any interest or penalties?

Anybody know what he might have owed for the other 12 years that had tolled?
