JFC, I have sock accounts on the Geeb going back to 2009–a few that have never been outed even. Some of them I remember the account password, some not. Shit, I tried join reddit and discovered I’d already done so back in about '08, completely forgot I’d done it so my account is twelve years old but only active for the last two or three. Same with Twitter, I have a ten year old account that has a grand total of about three tweets because I set up the account then forgot about it. Why in hell do people not understand that all kinds of people have weird random accounts they don’t use? And that sometimes they rediscover those accounts and decide to go drive around in that one rather than their usual daily driver? And that sometimes it’s kinda fun to have this brand new persona in a place where you’re known as someone else? And that maybe, just maybe, this might lead to some antic and annoying and TROLLISH behavior? FFS, get some goddamned internet smarts, shit. ---

Ah, trolls. It always makes me think of English comedian [Stewart Lee’s rave about Top Gear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7CnMQ4L9Pc). Talking about host Jeremy Clarkson he says, “The thing about Jeremy Clarkson is, I think he’s either an idiot or a genius, right. Yeah, he went away for a while and came back. I think the first time he stood out to me was in [a 2014 post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=17541086&postcount=25)where he was being a little creepy towards me, and not contributing anything useful to the thread topic (in a thread I didn’t even start), and I couldn’t quite figure out whether he was being unintentionally creepy, joking, referring to the fact that he and I both seem to be interested in music, just trolling, or I don’t know. My response at that time was cordial enough, but looking back at it, his post there was really weird and unsettling, and I wouldn’t respond to that same type of post in the same way today. ---

Personally, I like the guy. He is who is and I don’t think that he’s a sock, especially not for HD. HD was, and not to speak ill of the “departed” here, a belligerent asshole. Charlie isn’t. And even if you think he’s the latter, he certainly isn’t the former. (Besides, I do detect certain similarities between his posting style now and what it was before, so I also don’t think he’s a sock.) ---

Playing nice and only calling them out in the Pit lets them merrily trolly troll troll for far longer than instant and public shaming within the original thread would. ---

A modern farmer may be well-educated in agricultural sciences and may have a business degree as well, and can make a fortune off their land. I, for one, was not fooled by that asshole. I think I can spot a troll fairly well. This guy is just way too consistent over a long period of time (whereas Umkay peaked early), so unless he’s an evil genius bent on destroying us all, I’m going to go with ‘person with an issue’. That doesn’t mean I’m going to start taking his posts seriously, but I’m also not going to trash the guy for little reason.
