Yep - nothing found. Just to check I just installed Firefox, which has never been installed on this pc before and I still see ads. Only on the SDMB - no where else ---

Click on this link, and then click on other links here on the SDMB: [https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=2](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=2) If you aren’t served ads, then your bookmark (or whatever gets you here) is probably missing the https at the beginning of it, or has http instead of https. This can cause all sorts of problems, one of which is that the system will often treat you as if you are not logged in and therefore could display ads. ---

Zoid, I went and looked at your settings. You have not been a Charter Member since 2011. Sometimes the flag that indicates user title “sticks” and doesn’t flip when the usergroup changes. This actually happened twice. You DID continue to subscribe for a while after that, I show a registration paid as so: Straight Dope Board Membership **06-04-2017 to 06-04-2019** You are a Guest, and that is why you are seeing ads. I can see where if the system said you were a Charter Member all along, you’d think you were a Charter Member. That is the fault of the system. Under these circumstances, what I can do is offer you the same registration deal we had a few months ago. Go make a $30 “Friend of Cecil” donation and I’ll restore your Charter Membership.
