Check out the trailer for the new Mad Max movie..

Yeah, I agree that the other two guys weren’t True Believers, and probably had a significant degree of autonomy in their own territory. But it seemed clear that when push came to shove, they weren’t really in a position to refuse Joe’s orders. Even if it was just a matter of, “My stockpile of your bullets will last longer than your stockpile of my water.”

Well… in the official comic…

Joe was a special forces commander during the collapse. He and his men ended up becoming marauders until they learned about the citadel from the survivor of an enclave Joe’s men attacked. Joe’s group attacks the citadel and take it from the group who did have control of it. They learn about the mining installation nearby and Joe sends his Lieutenant to secure it—he becomes the Bulletfarmer. The guy they learned about the citadel from also knew about the oil refinery and had the technical skill to get it running again. He became the People Eater from Gastown.

I think that’s what the video game is about.

I went and saw this again tonight.

I was pleased to note that it’s held up well, despite being more than a month old now (;):p); it was still awesome!

Also, the 50 seat theatre I was in had about 40 people in it, which I thought was impressive for a 9pm Tuesday night showing.

I also appreciated Mr. Hardy’s performance a lot more this time around, too. Not as good as he was in Bronson, but that’s like comparing Michael Jordan on any given night to Michael Jordan when he had 69 points and 18 rebounds, ya know what I’m sayin’?

:bump:

I also just saw it again. Holy crap, this movie is one of the great action masterpieces in film history.

This movie is my current number one movie for 2015. I can hardly see any movie surpassing it, even if Star Wars equals the originals.

I saw it for the first time about a week ago. I think this is legitimately one of the best films, period. Like, it deserves a spot in “top 100 movies of all time” lists in the better half. It just does so much. The pacing, action, cinematography, storytelling, real-world political parallels. It has to be one of the closest films to perfect I’ve ever seen. It’s every bit on the same level as The Usual Suspects or Gone With the Wind.

I did not expect to like this movie at all, I think post-apocalypse stuff is kind of lame. But the movie just oozed so much style and craftsmanship from everyone involved.

Bumping this old thread!

I just saw this movie as part of the annual sci-fi movie marathon I attend. It’s so good! I just told my friend about it and he said he never would have considered seeing the movie as he’s not much of a Mad Max fan. I said I wouldn’t have bothered either but i had heard such great things from other friends, I was very excited to see it at the marathon. It did not disappoint!

There was a problem in the projection room with the reels, so we saw the first 20 minutes of the movie then there was a bit of a break before they figured out which was Reel 2. My comment to my friends was “Is this whole movie just a big desert road race, with no plot? Because THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE!!!” I think this movie would have been ruined by a more elaborate plot, and more dialogue.

I’d read about the filming and the lack of CGI in an article. Makes it so much cooler!

At the movie marathon they show random trailers and shorts between the movies. They played an entire episode of “Wacky Races” before Mad Max and it had me chuckling throughout the entire movie

I saw the newest Avengers shortly after seeing Mad Max. The difference in CGI effects is really noticeable between them, and I think Avengers really pales in comparison because of it.

I have watched this movie 17 times now (3 in the theatre, the rest on BR) and it doesn’t get old. There’s a lot of detail in the shots, the characters are awesome and well-acted so that their backstories matter and the action sequences and stunts are unparalleled.

I still think this is the best movie of 2015 and that it will influence films for decades to come.

Mr. Miller, you totally fucking rock!

I’m a bit slow, and I just finally saw this last night (and Road Warrior is one of my favorite films!)

Ho. Lee. Shit. Such a great movie. I might just watch it again tonight. The visuals, the pacing, everything was just great.

I really liked the way you just get dumped into this wasteland, with no clue as to what is going on, and very little in the way of exposition. It really adds to the feeling of just being dragged along, much as Max is at the beginning of the film.

This gets my vote as probably the best film I’ve seen in the last decade.

My two favorite movies ever as a kid were Road Warrior and Bladerunner. I was pleased as punch at how good Fury Road turned out taking Road Warrior and improving upon it 10-fold.
I’ve heard Bladerunner 2049 does the same thing.
