# Check out this sideways "icicle" !

It was in the 20’s last night here in SC, and when I got to work I noticed this “icicle” on the stairway to my office.
It looks like the support was full of water (it rained Saturday), and it got pushed out as the water froze & expanded.

That is pretty cool. I got some pictures of a cool icicle when I was on my retreat, it was a very wet snow and it basically slid off the roof, had come down by about a foot or more at the tip with several icicles sticking off the end.

No, no, no… an icicle comes down from the ceiling, remember? And an igicle comes up from the ground.
This one formed on a handrail, so it’s an ihicle.

IIRC there’s been stories of snow doughnuts/snow balls “snowballing” into gigantic dimensions after being pushed down a long steep hill.
