# chef's hat?

Okay, if there was a “Mundane Questions” forum, this would clearly belong there, but in the meantime…  
**"What is the big, white poofy hat that chefs wear called?"**  
I used to know this and it’s been bugging both me and Mrs. Chalupa.

I remember reading somewhere that it’s a “toque” - pronounced “toke”

I wear one of those poofy cook’s hats, and to be honest… we call them hats.

The tall, “stovepipe” style hats are the ones that are called toques.
