I can see Cher being a good inspiration for a new take on Catwoman, but as far as actually being a good casting choice…I can’t really see it. I have a feeling it would wind up in a Storm circa _X3_ style disaster. ---

Cher is the new poster-woman for plastic surgery face after Joan Rivers. With the closeups required to show her, she wouldn’t be expressive enough for Catwoman. Maybe they can get Helen Mirren. ---

I don’t think it’s going to happen, but it’s certainly more interesting than just taking the ‘easy’ way out and casting, say, Angelina Jolie or someone similar. ---

Patently absurd. Assuming they were going that direction with the character, why would they go with Cher when Angelica Huston is still alive? ---

If a mature, cougar-style Catwoman is being considered, an interesting choice would be Sean Young, who lobbied Tim Burton for the role in the '90s (unsuccessfully). Sean still looks great, and she’s got enthusiasm aplenty. ---

I thought she was excellent in **Moonstruck** (the role that won her the Oscar), **Silkwood** and **Mask** , and I quite liked her in **The Witches of Eastwick** and **Mermaids** (which was 10-year old Christina Ricci’s first film, adorable as Cher’s daughter). I haven’t seen her other movies. But yeah, she’s been out of the game for a long long time, which while I think is a shame because I do like her screen presence, I don’t know that I’d want to see her as Catwoman. Interesting idea though. Total hijack, but speaking of Cher, we went to a show the other night to see a singer named Tara Jane O’Neill. She started her emoish set with a dark, stripped-down, ballad-like cover of “Believe.” My husband recognized the song before I did and started laughing with delight. Not that he’s into Cher’s music, but just that someone would cover it in such a way as to make it sound like a valid ballad. ---

Okay, so we need a 50+ y.o. actress who can kick ass, whose presence will not piss off the fanboys, who can actually act, and is not Cher. How 'bout **Sigourney Weaver**? I think she’d be perfect. ---
