I always like cherry Coke, but I hate Cherry Coke, the taste is far to synthetic. I really liked the Cheerwine, it tasted more like cherry. Evidently, I’m pretty deep in Cheerwine territory, since now I see it everywhere.

You aren’t talking about the Pig & Wig on Hwy 441 in Dillard, are you? I was in there a few months ago & the bastards didn’t have any Sun Drop.

I have heard that Cheerwine is trying to go national - I saw a commercial or two, and they are incredibly stupid, which is a shame.

I love Cheerwine, but if I had to pick something regional to go national, could we have more places to get Blenheim Ginger Ale?

Why yes, yes I am. Little side note, an Asian family owns it. Know where you find the soy sauce and other Asian stuff? Mixed in with the Mexican stuff. They also have the smallest chicken section I’ve ever seen. Seriously, it’s like 5 ft of types of chicken.

The Ingles they just redid in Clayton is awesome. They have everything. Even an Indian food section! Good beer! It is so, well, not this county. 🙂

Two people here shop at the same grocery store in a remote Appalachian town of less than 200, yet when I post about things in my metro area of 4+ million, no one knows what the hell I’m on about.

Anyone from Atlanta who spends time in Highlands & Cashiers, NC knows which grocery store we’re talking about. Also have a family member who went to boarding school across the street.

It’s often a small world around here.

I’m bumping this thread because I have found nirvana:

**There is now Diet Caffeine-Free Dr. Pepper in Manhattan! Repeat: There is now Diet Caffeine-Free Dr. Pepper in Manhattan!**

My sister found it almost by accident while doing some online shopping at D’agostino’s. I nearly plotzed and refused to believe her until I held a can in my possession. I mean, I’ve been searching high and low for what I thought was merely a phantom sent by Dr. Pepper Inc. to taunt me, to no avail. (I refused to spend $50 on shipping from Texas! I may be nuts but I ain’t _that_ crazy!)

Now I have the solid proof. And it is yummy.

No, there will be no nirvana until Dr. Brown brings back Diet Cel-Ray.

I don’t see how these are even remotely the same. 2 summers ago, I was in Raleigh NC to check the area out in a potential move from the Northeast. I had heard about Cheerwine, so I bought some. It’s great stuff, but it’s nothing at all like Dr. Pepper.

Cheerwine is cherry soda. Cherry Dr. Pepper is medicinalish (but wonderful) cherry-colalike soda.

I’m a fan of both, and would love it if I could find Cheerwine in the NorthEast, but can’t. I’ll take a Cherry Dr. Pepper whenever I can find it (also somewhat harder to find in the NorthEast.)

You’re grossly exaggerating or you don’t remember what Cheerwine tastes like. I’m leaning towards the latter. Cheerwine is absolutely not cherry soda. Cherry soda exists and is very distinct from Cheerwine. That tells me that you don’t really remember what it tastes like. Try drinking them a couple days apart or the same day instead of 2 years apart.

I grew up with Cheerwine. I have an intimate knowledge of what it tastes like. More than “I tried it on vacation once” or “I live on the edge of Cheerwine territory.” I lived 15 minutes from where the stuff was made for most of my life. It was in every store and restaurant. I drank it every day. Cherry Dr. Pepper tastes like Cheerwine. It’s _almost_ identical. It’s similar to the point that if flavors could be copyrighted, Dr. Pepper would be in legal trouble. I think people are just trying to debate that to be argumentative. Either that or you’ve genuinely forgotten what Cheerwine tastes like, and either don’t realize it or don’t want to admit it.

A few years ago someone put a Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper in the ice bin of the through-the-door ice dispenser of our work fridge. Somehow it managed to partially freeze so that the bottle burst but there was plenty of unfrozen liquid to leak into the bin.

So imagine my surprise when I pushed in my cup to get some ice and instead I got what appeared to be a stream of blood.

I’m not gonna lie about it–I screamed.

I’m very happy for you! I do think it’s sad that the wonders of Caffeine-Free Diet Dr. Pepper are not easily available everywhere. It’s very common here in The South, I guess because Dr. Pepper itself is very popular.

“Slightly similar” my ass.

Besides a couple minor nuances I’ve already acknowledged, they are the same. Period.

They are **easily** as similar as Sprite and 7-Up (but probably moreso), which are similar enough that 100% of non-assholes don’t care about the difference.

Love Sprite. Love Love Love. Drink Diet Sprite (OK, Sprite Zero) now as I don’t drink sugared drinks any more.\*

HATE 7Up. Won’t drink it.

Just because YOU can’t taste the difference doesn’t mean there IS no difference. Some people can detect more subtle taste differences than others.

- For those who like Diet Dr. P because it tastes so close to the real thing, I like Sprite Zero for the same reason – tastes really close to the original.
