Chesebro,Powell and Others in Trump's Orbit

Or, in a position of power in Trump’s administration when they helped him retain (or return to) power.

It might be as simple as the fact that he got older (he’s now 62) and more successful, and decided that the conservative “I got mine” ethos fit better with where he was in life.

He seems to have been an enthusiastic Dem, though, supporting Obama, dissing Reagan, etc.

One point the Wiki article mentions is that he’s from Wisconsin and he started supporting Ron Johnson in 2016. Maybe as simple as hitching his wagon to the rising star.

Just sounds like an opportunist to me.

Also sounds… dumb. Anyone that would hitch their wagon to Trump has not done their homework.

Okay, this part made me laugh. Like lawyers have any better sense of morality than anyone else. Lawyers who do wrong may just be better at getting away with it, if they are any good at being bad.

As for trump, he’s kind of a vacuum cleaner with no filter. Maybe that’s his appeal to people who, at some level, know they themselves are rotten, but who won’t be turned away from this president.

People admire bullies.

You can add Eastman.

With apologies to Shel Silverstein:

Powell and Chese, Lindell and Rudy
Worshipped a man malicious and moody.
“Get on your knees: it’s your sacred duty!”
Cried Powell and Chese, Lindell and Rudy

Lindell and Chese, Rudy and Powell
Buttressed his bullshit, no matter how foul.
“Parrot and praise every monkeylike howl!”
Sang Lindell and Chese, Rudy and Powell

Rudy and Powell, Chese and Lindell
Saw a few cracks in their pot’s thin shell.
“Could we have been wrong? Not a chance in hell!”
Shrieked Rudy and Powell, Chese and Lindell.

Powell and Rudy, Lindell and the Chese
Are starting to enter their guilty pleas.
“No fair! You’ve driven us to our knees!”
Wept Powell and Rudy, Lindell and the Chese.

And watching it all is one Donald J. Trump–
that flagrant fascist, that lying lump–
“You shouldn’t have trusted me. YOU’RE the chump!”
Sneered soon-to-be-felon Donald Trump.

And Jeffrey Clark.

ETA: Very clever, @Left_Hand_of_Dorkness.

But in the case of Powell, she ran for election to some office and lost. She misinterpreted some text she saw on a computer printout to the effect that the computer caused her to lose that election. That was her gateway drug to rigged election conspiracy theories. Joining or going to these election conspiracy meetings would have been subsequent to that.

Of course, if the computer had caused that election loss, she certainly wouldn’t be able to discover it via something the computer said directly. If some miscreant did program the computer to do this, the last thing they would do is leave evidence that just anyone could find on a printout.

Powell bus-throwing is now complete.

Apparently Trump on Truth Social is now saying that she never was his lawyer.

(saw it on a news feed; I’m not about to go to TS to check it out myself)

Sounds like typical conspiracy theory: find one unusual thing, and then everything else must be interpreted in light of that one thing.

For a certain subset of trumpists, it has to be that he locates their worst natures and makes them feel like it is not just okay to be unethical immoral flagrant liars, but glorious, a path paved in gold leading to paradise. He clearly has that effect on some people. It’s like the Two Minutes Hate – a completely acceptable way to give way to everything despicable inside. They don’t have to pretend any more.

Except of course for trumpists, the hate never has to end.

@JohnT posted it to the Schadenfreude thread:

She probably lost it fair and square, and it could have all hinged on something relatively minor, such as no one wanting to hear her strangulated voice for x number of years. Voters are funny.

Had to go back to the Gotham City mugshots. Powell was Catwoman and Chesebro was Two-Face, which fits with him lawyerin’.

Rudy as Penguin is still the best.

Here’s the complete list, with pix:

Ah thanks LHOD. You and Randy Rainbow give me brief moments of respite in this vale of tears!

The OP of this thread outlined a very narrow topic. Let’s try to stick to it as much as possible. Thanks.

Wasn’t talking about morality, but law. They should understand just what kind of legal swamp that they are.
