Chi-Dopers -- Sun-Times vs. Trib?

I catch errors in print like nobody’s business, but I can’t recall offhand ever spotting a typo in the ST.

Kinda too bad; it made for some laughs and the papers today don’t offer many laughs.

They actually run two crosswords daily - check out the classifieds.

Oh, I almost forgot, the Sun-Times has a column on pro wrestling.

Same here. I buy it half for the NY Times crossword and the patternless crossword. The other half is for convenience—it’s so much easier to read on commutes than the Trib. I used to far prefer the Trib—after all, they had my favorite columnist Mike Royko, reason enough to buy the paper even if he was a bit nutty toward the end. But now, the convenience and crosswords compell me to buy the Sun Times. Plus it broke that whole Hired Truck scandal, which is perhaps the biggest triumph of investigative journalism in Chicago in recent memory.

And the Sun-Times runs three daily: one Sun-Times crossword on the second comics page, one NY Times crossword on the third comics page, and one patternless one in the classifieds.

It’s ten years since I was living in the city and so was reading either, but one of the crucial differences for me was that the Tribune - in those days at least - ran a significantly better selection of comic strips.

Your son’s mileage etc.

I like the Trib better due to it’s format–both because I can easily read the various sections in the order I prefer and because the sections can be separated easily and read by multiple people at the same time.
