Nice catch. Also, I see that the Lawson clock company started in the 1930s and made a few digit displaying clocks. That page also shows a flip clock that was patented in 1903. The web author prefers to call the Lawson models Cyclometer clocks, as the display turns over slowly rather than flipping a plastic or metal card.
I’m remembering an incident when I was a teenager back in 1977 or 8 (heh heh). I was going out, and my mother told me “Just be back for dinner by five-thirty, six.” I didn’t know why she was being so precise, but I made sure I got back by 5:36.
I’m pretty sure she meant 5:30 - 6:00.
Something like that happened to me. My mom said to be back by twenty-five or six to four, so I came home with LSD and quaaludes.
