I once learned on this message board that mayonnaise is the devil’s semen. I can’t argue with the statement.

Ever stop to consider that the Cathy family has cost itself BILLIONS by closing shop on Sunday?

Like them or not, these people are putting their money where their mouths are.

They are, indeed. Too bad their mouths are in such a homophobic place. While hypocrisy about goodness is a vice, sincerity about bigotry isn’t a virtue.

> Chick-fil-A is currently being boycotted by many members of the gay community for their corporate support (with money and free catering) of groups that seek to “restore traditional marriage” (i.e. repeal gay marriage laws in place where it’s passed). This may be an effective boycott for a change as we’re a group that knows how to get the meat down without gagging.

Thank you for this information. Now I have a nicer reason than “I can’t stand their tasteless sandwiches” for turning down offers to stop at Chick-fil-A.

It contains chicken embryonic stem cells, but so does cake.

Chicken sandwiches are pretty standard anywhere you order them (Wendys, Burger King, Sonic, McD etc.). They all come with mayo, lettuce, pickles etc. Once in awhile you may find them with tarter sauce or cheese.

We decided to give Chick-fil-A a chance because friends have raved about it, and we liked the idea of fresh cooked chicken. We ordered the standard sandwich. Never dreaming the silly buggers were too cheap to even put on a leaf of lettuce or tomato slice.

If we ever go again, we’ll order the “deluxe”. At least then we get the lettuce and tomato. We’ll request a mayo packets for each sandwich.

The thing is… we shouldn’t have to do that. They are the ones out of step with the rest of the restaurant chains.

 They just do it differently, and are making a killing at it.

My favorite thing about chick-fil-a is that I don’t have to worry about my sandwich being tainted by mayo. McD’s is pretty good about that too. Burger King, they ruin already crappy food by putting mayo on it.

Yeah, I think that’s what I’ve always ordered, having read the menu and seeing that’s the sandwich that comes with tomato and lettuce.

The nice thing about their sandwiches is that they’re made from whole chicken and don’t taste like shredded pressed chicken. Also they’re infused with some salty broth that’s probably completely nasty but tastes pretty good. Definitely a step above McDonald’s and Wendy’s.

You know, there are other good toppings for sandwiches, such as guacamole, salsa, cheese, hummus…
People should be eating at home anyway.
They do have fruit cups, which is a rarity for fast food places, its healthy!

Really? They serve plain chicken sandwiches without the crap that other chains pour on to cover the lack of taste? They expect their chicken to taste that good? That’s fantastic! That’s how every chain should operate!

Too bad I could never go there because of the owner’s policies, but it’s out there for the future.

Speaking of the future. Many, many years ago I read a Michael Bishop novel about a future Atlanta. He had in it a restaurant called Chick-Fil-A. I thought that it was the stupidest invented futuristic-style name ever. It made no sense at all and couldn’t even be pronounced. Was many years before I found out it was real.

I always enjoyed their minimalist sandwiches. Juicy, so no additives were needed; far more flavorful than BK, and just sort of hit the comfort food spot.

I’m always grateful when the standard sandwich is pretty basic, and an aware person can modify it how they wish just by asking. I’m not a fan of standard ingredients nationwide for sandwiches.

Unfortunately, their politics keep me from purchasing more of their food

I support one of the vet school’s association by buying the breakfast chicken sandwiches from Chik-Fil-A that they sell as a fundraising. Mmm… buttery warm biscuit and juicy breaded chicken. Simple, but so yummy. They give some jelly packets to use, which I sometimes use.

When I donate blood, I get the coupons for their 2 for 1 chicken sandwhiches (plain). And I order them without pickles. You can ask for any of the sauces with them, and I spread some polynesian sauce or some ketchup on the bread. Yummy!

I don’t really like their nuggets, I think that is their major weak point.

Overall, I don’t know why dissing simplicity, when it tastes good, is bad. Raising Canes, a small chain mostly found in Louisiana, only sells chicken fingers (and an addictive dipping sauce), fries, and Texas toast. It is awesome. It is delicious. It’s so simple, but oh so yummy.

If it works, it works.

It’s the pickles that makes the sandwich. They provide just the right amount of moisture and tang. No other sauce is needed. The sandwich tastes great.

Yeah, I don’t get why adding your own mayo (or other preferred sandwich sauce) is so onerous. It’s a pity that the chain’s social policies are so hateful, because I really miss the lovely simplicity of a really good Chick-Fil-A sandwich: soft bun, nicely flavored chicken, mayo (added myself - so that I get just the right amount,) and three pickles (not 2, not 4, 3.)

If they didn’t come plain I would order them that way. Same with hamburgers and hot dogs. Meat and bread - only.
