**throws rotten tomatoes at everybody in thread** pththththhhbbbbb!!! OK, it was a _little_ rude. But honestly, wouldn’t it be better to take 2 seconds to find out what they are first, then start a discussion with a little meat on it’s bones? I can’t help but notice that hardly anyone is addressing the OP, it’s just a free-for-all calling me a bitch. I don’t care if he’s new, when I was new I made a major boo-boo and got spanked by a mod, shit happens. Merry fucking Christmas!!! ---

In this one you wait for a relatively new user to ask about something that shows up here often but isn’t necessarily clear at first glance. Then try to be the first pinhead to tell the dummy that google is the answer to all! (Can anyone tell me why we still have GQ since Google is the answer to all?) It might save some bandwith. Just a suggestion. After seeing “Chick tract” rants for a while, I finally read some threads a few months ago, and figured out what they were. So I missed out on about 9 months worth or so. I always thought they were feminist tracts so just avoided opening them. Now I’m happy for my ignorance to that point as asking someone earlier would have resulted in the same condecending attitude some newer members face. And now I’m really wondering why GQ exists with the great Google available to us. ---

Personally, I enjoy reading the witty and clever retorts from this gallimaufry of prickly pears we got here. The ‘Google is God’ mentality is just as annoying as dumb questions, IMO. I really think the phrase “Google is your friend” should bring censure in most cases. And yes, I used said phrase myself in my callow newbieness. But as I’ve stated before, when I pose a question here at SDMB, I’m looking for more than just an answer! I want commentary, digression, disagreement, cites and counter-cites, warnings to take it to the pit, mod chastisement, and eventual kiss and make up. You can’t find that sort of thing on google. ---
