The amazing thing was getting through two hours without once mentioning my favorite obsession. We should do it again some time, with more people, and perhaps a laptop equipped booth for the “socially avoidant” so they can comfortably participate. Wouldn’t have minded staying later, but I’m planing to be on the road by 7 am tomorrow and need to get a good night’s sleep beforehand. ---

I’m just curious… When people attend DopeFests, do they all reveal their member names, or do some people attend who keep their member names private? ---

You-all missed it, or ok, I missed it, but you missed this: The origin of my name here is not just that I’m the bus guy for the schools here, there’s a longer explanation. Last summer at the start of the year there was this one single girl - a junior then she’ll be a senior now - and she had the hardest time finding her bus each day. Usually the first couple weeks of each school year I am a presence at the high school because it has the most routes, and the high school kids are the slowest ones at catching on where their bus is. So this one girl, it became kind of a sad joke with her. In the end it was about 25% our fault, and the rest hers, but for the first few days, she could NOT find her bus. By the 3rd day of school, what she would do is walk out of school, head straight for me and yell “hey mr bus guy! where’s my bus??” Later, during the year I’d see her in the halls and i’d get a wave and a hey mr bus guy. so when I joined here, it just seemed natural. Anyway, since you’re wondering if there’s a point to this story, this Fathers’s Day, bus kid (my own bus kid, not that girl) bought me a t-shirt that says “the bus guy” on the back. I’d have worn that probably had I not had to go to stupid Cory’s stupid graduation party. Next time.
