Yep, all the cool kids are moving to Chicago. šŸ†’ **boli** moved here last year, and so did **Mr Cynical**. I found out at ChiDope **monster** just moved here (hence clearing up my confusion on if she was the monster I thought she was). Next, I think **Tibby** needs to move here so she can find a quality lesbian. Iā€™m hoping **UncleBeer** will be making it here before too long, too. ---

I always feel snowed under after returning from one of these, especially when I have to drive through a freakish windstorm with a car built like a sail, car full of kids and sugary snacks, then remember that Iā€™m having Indian delivered on Monday morning. Top it off with a healthy mix of wireless LAN interference and then a complete cable failure this morning. But I am dainbread from too much meetings and such, so need to blow some steam here now. Mrs. ShibbOleth was pleased to meet you all. She seems to be making progress in her Doper aversion therapy. We looked through some of the photo galleries on her machine last night, but she declined to post anything. Special thanks to everyone who made my family feel welcomed, particulary **Punha** Squarepants. When I asked the Shibblets what their favorite part of the trip was, they replied, without hesitation, ā€œbreakfast!ā€ But getting picked up by the ears was a close second, and the part that theyā€™re sure to remember for much longer. **Fizzy** ā€™s a pretty lucky lady; sheā€™s such a sweet thing to put up with that long-haired manchild of hers. I should also mention **hampster** ā€™s patience in staying with us throughout the aquarium. We were particularly impressed that he was able to find the Grafton, since we werenā€™t even certain he was going to find his car. Super special thanks to **Gundy** , **Hamlet** , **Judith Prietht[sup]\*[/sup]**, **Zanshin** and whoever else sacrificed vital parts of their livers in the scouting process! **Jane Dā€™oh** is just so super cool in so many ways, itā€™s impossible to list them all, but letā€™s start with her glowing warm personality, charm, cool safari pics, games and deep discount luxury accomodations. Besides being panty queen (why did all of the guys seem to miss that?) and overall babe, **Gundy** is a splendid hostess who writes spectacular directions and has a cool kid and very accomodating SO (who does look like a cross between Jason Biggs of American Pie and Ed Helms from the Daily Show). I even saw what I considered to be a flattering photo of you this year, so perhaps another myth is shattered? What was the name of that strange toy you had in the closet? **Joey H.** , I think my wife would leave me for you in a heartbeat, if she didnā€™t know that you were such a babe magnet. And **Katiekilldare** is the best thing since strawberries to come out of Plant City, even if she did conflate me with **RTFirefly**. **Biggirl** rocks for offering up her sonā€™s babysitting service, and **Zoltarb** double r0xx0r for watching my kids so the missus could get there just in time to watch the ceiling burst with water. And thanks for not telling anyone how lost I got trying to shortcut the way back to the hotel on the first try! Another highlight was meeting a couple of the DipDopers, **Abe\_Babe** and **Omniscient** , plus **Hamlet** who is pure genius at Fantasy Football smack, a poet and a gentleman. ChiDope is also always a great place for ModSpotting; itā€™s wonderful to meet the Mods because without an exception they are all kind and compassionate folks who never deserve to absorb any of the abuse they get. Iā€™ll never wash my backseat since itā€™s been graced with **DrMatrix** and **CajunMan** ā€™s charming presence. I was additionally blessed to have not one but three **Manhattan** sightings, only one of which was actually in a bar. It was great to meet a few new folks, plus renew acquaintance with some that Iā€™ve met at OhDopes or last yearā€™s ChiDopeā€™s ( **porcupine, UncleBeer, Czarcasm, MissCreant, Typo Mna, Dynosaur** fit into this category). Even though we thought we had no takers ( **Biggirl** was still taking her rest when I called at 10), we made it to Shui Fah(sp?) for dim sum on Sunday, only to find **MikeG** , **MEBuckner** , and the **gaudere** sibs waiting in line there. So we got to move to the big table and share lots of tasty stuff. Maybe someday Mike will forgive me for getting him to try Chinese licorice at the Japanese candy store afterwards. Finally, Iā€™d be remiss if I didnā€™t mention the incredible entertainment provide by **Tiburon** , **bristlesage** , **Monster** , **Shadowfox** , **Kyla** , **Biggirl** , **mama4bear** and a couple of others whose names I donā€™t know, whether your hijinks took place in the bar or my car. Iā€™m not going to mention **Ringo** since he didnā€™t give me props for finding and returning his gold Amex card. Dawg! Iā€™m sure that Iā€™ve left off some others unintentionally, which is always the risk of recapping highlights. Apologies in advance. I feel worse that there are several folks that I didnā€™t really get a chance to meet up with or talk to. But itā€™s always best to leave a Dopefest wishing for more, so we can hope to come back next year. \*One of my all-time favorite usernames ---

**Shibb** , pal, I was getting there, I swear. Really, thanks for the save - it would otherwise have been an Ugly Sunday. And your wife and kids _are_ adorable (Did ā€œadorableā€ just come out of me?). Shibb, BTW, is a generous guy who offered his automobile up for transportation to the Saturday night festivities. When we saw that almost a dozen motorless Dopers had congregated in the bar awaiting his arrival, we realized that, unless he was driving an extended cab Hummer, we were overstocked. That lead to **shadowfox** , **mama4bear** and me heading out to enhance our appreciation of the _CTA_ system. The plan was simple enough; take the train to the nearest stop and flag a cab. Well, the nearest stop (Montrose) is a commercial district that was shut down for the weekend. Shut down = no people. No people = no taxicabs. We finally got out of there, but I was afraid Iā€™d walked those women to death. I know Iā€™ve left a bunch out ( **katiekilldare** , **Tib** ,ā€¦Aaack! What can I _do_ about all this?). Love yaā€™. I didnā€™t get a chance to meet many people, but the people I did meet I bet I left an impression on. (I specifically didnā€™t say good impression. I would blame the alcohol, but I would have been the same way sober, just less handsy, if you see what I am saying. If you do, please explain it to me, because I donā€™t.) Of the people I hadnā€™t met before: **Biggirl** was fantastic fun. When she wasnā€™t frowning on our drinking habits, or trying to get us to stop letting her son have free shots of booze. **Miss Mabel** knew the good parties from the bad parties. **Omni** was just as arrogrant and prickish in real life as he was on the boards. (Which is why I really regret not being able to hang out with him more. He was just fun.) **bing** knew the difference between mouthwash and pain reliever. I wish him luck in finding his father. **monster** was pretty and a very good driver. Everyone else was exactly what I said about them the last time I met them. pat ---

Despite my out-of-shape look, Iā€™ve been known to walk up to 5 miles before getting tired. It was my friend who couldnā€™t tolerate all the walking because of her bad back. He doesnā€™t mention it, but it was my fault. I read the map wrong and was under the belief that the bar was only 3-4 blocks away from the Montrose station. After 5 blocks or so, we called up a cab on a pay phone. It turned out that the bar was probably 4-5 miles away from there even. ---

Well, I have nothing against necks myself (lately and unfortunately, this is a quite literal statement). I tend to be a bit more selective and private about it, though. Different strokes, I guess (no pun intended). Maybe I need to do another batch of plov before I invite Motorcycle Boy over again. Maybe thatā€™s whatā€™s been holding him backā€¦ ---

I think itā€™s fair to say that **I** am ā€œmore selective and privateā€ about such things than I was on Saturday night - I was just having a very good, enjoyable time. Iā€™m typically fairly reserved so it was good for me to loosen up and enjoy myself. šŸ™‚ ---
