Ah, CarnalK, I see you’re not exactly making stuff up, but you certainly are obscuring things & also making some nifty little jumps to conclusions. I’ve no idea if the man had been married prior to his entrance into the priesthood (yes, there is such a thing; widower, for example). I’ve no idea if all of his victims were males. And I submit you don’t know that either. ---

I’m not knee-jerking defense of religion, Carnal. I’m querying you about your conclusion. I’m certainly not defending the former priest’s molesting of children. What I am doing is querying the people who are “dancing in the street” over this murder about that. ---

Okay, I’m going to do something unprecedented in the history of this board. I apologize for my actions. Monty, I apolgize to you. I will be honest. I was molested as a child, and it’s a VERY painful thing to deal with. I have numerous issues to it to this day. I really shouldn’t let myself get carried away with this. Please forgive me. I’m sorry about this, my mind gets carried away with this. I don’t know what happened to the pedophile, but it sucks. I don’t particularly like pedophiles (does anyone). I’m sorry I broke down. Also, the Olympian jump that his arrest charges were representitive of his crimes. So I guess you’re right. Well, there are Catholic priests who are married and that’s with the blessing of their church! There are also priests who entered the priesthood after their spouse expired (even if they’re the ones who didn’t cause it! {jk}). And back in the late 1970s (1977~1978), one of the Catholic Chaplains in the US Army in Korea was an unmarried man who adopted a couple of children–with the blessing of the Catholic church. The Stars & Stripes had a very good column on him. I admit that those guys are a very insignificant number of those in the Catholic priesthood. Why’d you say you hope the mods _don’t_ take it seriously? Typo? Now let’s get back to bashing the former priest’s actions and also the muderer and the prison authorities for letting the murder happen in the first place! Focus, people, focus! ---

It may (and I think, this is most likely) have been the only weapon he had available. It’s relatively quick, and quiet which is pretty important in a prison, ya know? ---
