Child porn by any other name, I pit you.

This site from Nurse Carmen’s link IS kiddie porn IMO at least. She’s 16, and in one of the pictures she had to shave in order to wear the bikini! Wasn’t Calvin Klein busted for merely posing 16 year olds in his underwear in make up? What’s the difference here? Wasn’t there a law made stating that in effect, whether or not the “parts” are covered, if it’s meant to arouse, and the “model” is under age, than it’s illegal? Can any lawyers confirm or debunk this?

Meant to add, at the very least, many of these “models” are more akin to strippers, and go go dancers IMO, and as such, should be made to wait for such a “career move” until they are of legal age. I saw one site on the first page linked, that had a very young girl, who really just seemed to be auditioning for the Summer edition of the K-mart or Wal-mart fliers.

Drat it! Also, I linked up the front page of the site, which won’t get you in trouble, however it’s one click and a scroll away from 2 pictures that are blatently seductive, though all the “bits” are covered…more or less.

Those are the deadest eyes I’ve ever seen.

He didn’t get in any legal trouble, IIRC. It just generated a lot of public outrage, so they voluntarily pulled the ads.

Miller I remember a bit more now. Yeah, he wasn’t legally prosecuted, but his chops did get busted in the media for it. Also, wasn’t some DA threatening to find a way to prosecute him? Wasn’t he the one who helped lead the charge and get the new stricter law made?

Anyone want to bet these girls aren’t even in the United States? Strikes me it would be pretty straightforward to head for eastern Europe, take some pix, then put up the web site and work from there.

Hmm… Sixteen? Now that’s more like it!
::d&r::

More like it can be illegal, rather than it must be right off the bat, Zabali_C. Like with everything porn, a court would take the work in context - specially with a 16-y/o. Even though the letter fo the law says “age-of-porn-work” is 18, for a large part of the population it’s hard to ignore that 16 is not the same as 12, as Ilsa_Lund observes. (Would Chuck Berry get in trouble if he came out with “Sweet Little 16” today? I mean, you knew that what everybody wanted to do with her wasn’t just to “dance”…) .

And you’re right, Z_C – there seems to be a few girls who are being promoted as “legit” child-models, and many who are being promoted as fantasy pin-ups, plain and simple. OTOH, there ARE quite a few under-18 professional fashion models, who walk runways at major shows and do magazine covers sporting the industry-standard Face of Hostile Jadedness, striking alluring poses in very, very scant outfits. It’s just a reality that there are many would-be Terri Shieldses among the mothers of America.

And Jonathan, I think if the ones being referenced are the ones I know of, there ARE many of them in the USA, though the business sites may not be.

That’s possibly one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.

Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if the girls were in their late teens, but Jesus! There’s kids in those pictures that can’t be more than 8 or 9! And don’t even try to tell me those are “fashion model” pictures- you can show little kids in underwear without making it look like a Maxim spread. There’s a major difference between legitimate child models, like the ones in kids’ clothing catalogues, and these websites. There is absolutely no way this is on the level- they may not technically be breaking the law, but they’re fucked up and evil just the same. I feel physically sick looking at those pictures; I just know that somewhere out there some shitstain is bookmarking that site and reaching for the box of tissues.

What the hell brand of fucked up parent must you be to let your kid get involved in something like this? I can maybe, maybe, see the pageant parents, creepy as they are, but this? This is outright kiddie porn with a thin veneer of law-abiding slapped on top of it. Jesus.

Somewhat off-topic, could this be part of some “bait” site actually set up by the FBI to catch internet pedophiles? I saw something on tv about this being done, but I don’t know anything about the legal issues involved.

16 years old is hardly kiddy porn. Isn’t it legal in some European countries for 16 year olds to appear in porn?

The 8 & 9 year olds, on the other hand…

What’s that word for someone who gets off to teens? And don’t say pedaphile!

Looking at that banner page, and a few random clicks, many of those girls look like teenagers. Perhaps from 13 or 14 to 17 or so. Sometimes, it gets hard to tell. Teenaged girls irl seem to want to look older, more sexy. And I have a 24 yr old friend who could give any 15 yr old a run for her money, sho looks o baby faced. I ought to put up a fee site with pics of her. I’m sure some guys would think they’re getting a kid.

There were some, though, that looked like they haven’t hit puberty yet. Let me tell you, for a even the horniest of average guys, a 9 year old girl just isn’t sexy. Regardless of what you put her in. Wearing a wet bikini while posing with her legs apart, or puttting her in some tiny undies and having her thrust her ass in the air isn’t sexy. In my eyes, it’s a child trying to be made to look sexy. I’m sure some people get off to it, though. And while the owners of such sites aren’t breaking the letter of any laws, they are (imho) skirting the intent of such laws.

But, what do you expect legislators to do about this? Curbing this sort of thing would put restrictions on those teener girls who are trying to look older and sexy. You gonna print some sort of specific guidelines on what is and isn’t appropriate for each age group? And, it would seem to foster a paranoid sensationalism in regards to pictures of children. Remember the story last year about some Walmart (or generic discount store) photo clerck saying some parent’s pics of their kids in the tub were child porn? How many of us have photo albums with either us or our kids lying naked on the shag carpet? Or running around pantless at some get together? I wouyld wager many us do. Does that make us child pornographers?

I don’t know the answers to these problems. I’m just asking them to make sure we all know what’s going on.

A teen.

The term for sexual attraction to someone in or after puberty is “hebophile”.

Yeuch. That’s really messed up. I’m not entirely convinced it should be illegal (or at least those I saw - I didn’t look at many, and really don’t want to), but it’s cutting it pretty damned close.

While those sites are skanky and in poor taste, I don’t think they qualify as child porn. Their parents should be rounded up and have their heads examined.

Clicked on a couple of the buttons trying to determine if they are in the US or not, but it is impossible to tell. Here is a link to a site which lists the “age of consent” for different countries and states within the US.
http://www.ageofconsent.com/ageofconsent.htm

Hebophile? The closest I can find in my dictionary (and I’ll admit it’s not like I’ve got an OED here in my dorm room) is hemophile, based purely on the possibility of a typo. The only thing I get for “hebo” has to do with Oregon. The only other thing I could think of, homophile, gets a hit as a symonym for homosexual. Not saying you’re lying, but I’m just curious since I’ve never heard this word. I would think that the term for sexual attraction to someone in or after puberty would be “normal”.

I think he meant ephebophile maybe?

Wow, that would work. Learn something new every day here. For anyone curious, though I can’t find an exact match, here’s the Greek root that’d be used.

hebephile is the word

Ephebophile is used for people who are attracted to teen boys. * Hebephile * is non-gender specific, as far as I know.
