So how many moms, dads, aunts, uncles, etc do we have on the board? I am having my third child due in June and my twins who I still call my babies are turning 5 tomorrow. I was reminiscing on how they aren’t my babies anymore and looking through some pictures they have drawn for me, and this one my daughter drew for me a couple of weeks ago just cracked me up. my daughter drew this picture for me the other day. She says it shows me (the one at the bottom of the stairs) being sick and throwing up and because she is tried and seeing me sick she throws up too. This is what my 5 year old thinks of her pregnant momma…just a little disturbing. You don’t have to be a parent to know the joy of weird kids) I also really like this website by David Devries who “realistically” reproduces the drawings of children. I don’t have it scanned, but my 6 yr old recently painted a picture of a stick person swimming in the ocean with a bright sun and some colorful fish. He said, “That’s you mom. Sorry, I forgot to draw you fat. And arms. I forgot arms.” 😃 ---

Heh, I had a funny kids drawing moment the other day - my 6 year old loves to draw stick-figure guys battling. He drew a big stick-figure battle on boats and proudly gave it to me. At the same time, I happened to be reading a book on Egyptian archaeology. A drawing just isn’t a drawing to my son unless there’s a train in it, preferably Thomas the Tank Engine. One day he drew pictures for both me and my husband. “Here, mom! Here is Thomas decorated for a party and bringing balloons.” ::beams:: “Here, Dad! Here’s your picture.” “Thanks…What’s this on Thomas?” “Oh, that’s stinky cheese.” 😛 My daughter once had an art assignment to make a picture of dinosaurs. It was a mixed media kind of thing—construction paper cut-outs, crayon, etc. She ended up making a rather…_ **vivid** _ drawing of one dinosaur killing and eating another one. ---

My parents still love telling the story of going to an event at my school when I was in Year 1 (6 years-old?). They got to look at our classroom and desks and books etc. We were allowed to draw a picture on the first page of our work books and title it with something related to the subject. On the first page of my religious education book (this was a good catholic school) I had drawn a few trees and some stick men engaged in a epic gun-battle complete with muzzle flashes, tracer rounds, ejected shells, dead bodies and burning tanks. Underneath was the caption “God Loves Us.” What can I say, I was a realist even then 😃 ---
