Oh yeah! In the same vein, the Amber Brown series.
(I read the first book with one of my second-grade reading groups, and it was a moderate hit, so I started another one with them, _Amber Brown Wants Extra Credit_. I learned a valuable lesson: read the whole book before choosing to do it with the kids! Amber Brown starts obsessing about bras and singing “We Must Increase Our Bust” in the third chapter, and that’s just not somewhere I felt like going with a half-dozen eight-year-old boys).

It _is_ too bad more books on Amazon don’t have the “check in side” option when you click on the cover image.

Yep–that was one of the ways I tried to check on the voice of the books I was recommending. On at least one book, I found out it was third person, and didn’t mention it therefore (I forget what the book was, though).

I was watching an agent’s daughter today and she brought in Volume Three of the series. It was possitively enchanting. Very very cool, and fun for adults too.

_The Story of the Treasure Seekers_ by E. Nesbit (classic! and still hilarious!)
_Lizard Music_ by Daniel Pinkwater
**LH of D** already mentioned _The Watsons Go to Birmingham_, so I’ll add _Bud, Not Buddy_ by the same author.
_Seer of Shadows_ by Avi (new last year)
The McGurk Mysteries by E.L. Hildick are all in first person (although as much as I fondly remember them, and think they are very cleverly written, the mysterious parts are pretty obvious to an adult)
_From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler_ by E. L. Konigsburg (which I remember marveling over because it tricks you on the first person issue)

John D. Fitzgerald’s Great Brain series is written in first person.
