Video might be upsetting: Wu Yongning was a 26-year old stunt artist (of the sort which Russian climbers/trespassers have made famous of late) and would climb to overhanging ledges, bridges, etc. and deliberately lounge about or stand or walk on the edge of death. He was getting a lot of views, and significant money, on the Internet by doing so. ---

Of the accident itself - after doing pullups on the ledge, it appears that he was unable to muster enough strength to pull himself back up again, or perhaps his fingertips couldn’t get enough traction for a firm grip to let him get back up on the ledge. ---

According to a USA Today article I read, he was doing it for $15k in prize money. In which he intended to ask his girlfriend to marry him after the challenge, using the money to pay for his wedding and also on some sort of care for his ailing mother. Watching that made me sick to my stomach. ---

Eh, I’ll join in with all the black humor jokes, Darwin awards, etc. I chuckled at the three posts before **Eyebrows’**. I think it’s a healthy way to deal with tragedy. But saying someone deserves to die or that no one cares is different for me. No one deserves to die because they did something stupid. That’s quite a judgment to make. So yeah, I do give a shit. ---

If I read correctly elsewhere, he had done stunts like this over 300 times previously. What’s amazing isn’t that he got killed; what’s amazing is that he survived this long. ---
