Choose life

It remains to be seen if the courts will leave him hanging on the line for yo-yo.

As long as the state’s not preventing Planned Parenthood or NARAL or NOW from anteing up the signatures to sponsor their own custom license plates, why is it wrong for the state to allow the anti-abortionists to so the same?

“Choose Life” is way too half-assed a slogan.

I say the Ohio legislators should make their intent plain, by voting to create commemorative license plates that say "Bomb an abortion clinic for Jesus."

hmmm…
in ireland and the uk, and most of eurpoe the number plate is just that… a number.

it might have, say, the national flag, or the abbreviation for the country eg DK, IRL, F, CH etc, but nothing else.

thus you are free to put whatever bumper stickers you want on your car, and donate your own money to charities as you see fit.

i think ANY slogans, other than perhaps the state motto, or something, is divisive and partisan and basically asking for trouble.

LOL.

I’d get one, and put the word “style” after it.

(um, “Lifestyle” is a brand of condoms in Australia)

Of course, the State Motto of Ohio is “With God, All Things Are Possible”…

how about if they make one with “right to choose” on it…

for those that think ‘choose life’ doesnt have a pro-life ‘feel’ to it, ‘right to choose’ shouldn’t either, right?

Sorry, this one just isn’t working for me.

Not on the plate itself, anyway. You want to get one of those license plate holders that says “Choose Life,” sure. Not a problem. I’m sure Right to Life makes those, don’t they? Get one of those, and buy it directly from them. That way, you know for certain that your money is going to Right to Life, and not into the state’s coffers first, where they can take their share and give what’s left to Right to Life.

If you want to support an organization, support the organization. Make your donations to them, not a middleman.

Uh huh. :frowning:

Indeed. Perhaps the state could sponsor a design competition for such plates…refer to the resulting artwork as “political art”…and fund it ala the NEA. Seems to work for Andres Serrano.

Since I came to America 8 years ago I have always been a little bewildered by the polarization of the abortion debate here. I have always wanted to say that I am both pro-choice and pro-life. Seems like Choose Life captures that perfectly.

Women should have the right to choose.
I hope they would choose life.

If you take a look at the choose life web site - http://www.choose-life.org/states.html - they talk about providing alternatives to women with unwanted pregancies so they really can choose. After all, it’s only a choice if there are alternatives.

Having said all that, the message doesn’t belong on a licence plate for all the many good reasons already stated.

I doubt this could win. 1. The licence plate with the slogan isn’t the only one offered, so it’s not as if drivers would be forced to say something that they don’t support. 2. Precedent already includes licence plate slogans with only one view point. At least, I don’t think they have special plates that say “Destroy the Earth” or “It should hurt to be a child,” do you? Conservation groups and child advocacy groups benifit from the sales of plates, and no counter-groups are protesting.

Oh, man, that would be cool, though! I would definitely get one if they did. Plus a personalized license number of some kind. I wonder if “DR EVIL” is taken in my state? Or perhaps “TARKIN”.

Is there someplace I can buy a “Choose Death” sticker? Just to provide an opposing viewpoint, you know.
