It goes both ways. We Jews have a pretty distorted view of Christianity as well. And I think the Straight Dope is doing an excellent job of getting us to understand each other better, without fighting or screaming, and also without either side giving up on its own beliefs.
For example, I’ve heard so much over the years about how Christians supposedly did away with the Law, and that’s what led so several of my questions here. But Mean Girl’s post did a great job of explaining that the current situation is not one of “no Law at all”, but rather a replacement occurred. Of course the role of the law (vis-a-vis faith) has changed drastically in the Christian view.
