Christians, do you think the Church is doing the will of God (abortion)

According to Wiki, there were THREE documented cases of successful ectopic pregnancies. Only one seemed to be tubal.

So basically, you either have an abortion-or you die anyways. Except in the latter case, it’s slow and extremely painful.

Oh, and neither case (abortion or not treating the woman), does the fetus survive. So it’s basically all for nothing.

I’m thinking about backing away from this thread. I’ll be repeating myself and beating dead horses. But as a parting shot, I want those who say
“You must obey because ‘the law’ is clear and it is church policy. It is the word of God as set forth by the chuch” …

The bishops themselves are backpedalling, disavowing, revising their view etc etc etc. The church itself doesn’t KNOW what is right and apparently either can’t decide or won’t decide. So what is there to obey?

Tossing the rhetoric and word games aside, I would HOPE people know what is right. I would HOPE people would do the right thing, instead of obeying something that is “well I hate it but it’s the rules”, or obviously wrong. I also have issues with “the law i absolute and never changes”. It does change. If it doesn’t, if The LAW is more important than the people it was supposed to help, to hell with it.

Jesus himself was known to disregard “The Law” for the greater good. Would you rather follow his example, or that of the Pharisees?

Do I think the church is doing the will of God, with respect to abortion?

Even as I consider myself Christian, I have a rather dim view of the effectiveness of the church, in general.

With respect to abortion? Abortion is to be avoided, except in cases of the mother’s self defense. Even then, I think it is a matter of choice.

The church, in my experience, tends to be authoritarian without compassion. They don’t give enough training and assistance to young people. They teach abstinance, without the necessary mental foundation, or any relief mechanisms. Remain PURE, they admonish. I have seen a great number of people in pain, with no relief in sight.

Abortion is, after all, desperate retroactive pregnacy prevention. Too little, too late. Common sense would say human souls are not created at conception. Otherwise, there would be a concerted effort to fertilize every possible ovum … even if said zygote didn’t survive. That is a bit off topic, though.

Young people are never told blow jobs don’t make babies, nor does mutual masturbation. DON’T PUT THE WORKING PARTS TOGETHER. It is permissible, even desirable, to relieve the pressure first. Can you imagine the church teaching this?

Maybe consider the pressure for abortion to be indicative of the defective condition of the church. People don’t really have sex outside of marraige, do they?

Or, maybe teach them about proper birth control and SAFE SEX? It isn’t just about conception-there are also diseases to be avoided?

Condoms, people!
