Asked on Twitter: **Do you believe America would be better off if more Christians served in elected office?** After 16,000 responses later, 96% stated no. Wow, didn’t see that coming, neither did they. The group accused atheists and Satanists for voting and for religious persecution. Arkansas State Sen Jason Rapert (R) warned about the rise of witches in some kind of email recruitment. I don’t have a Twitter account myself, but I believe voting is still ongoing for the next five days, so if Dopers want to vote, do so. They have been trying to raise $500,000 via GoFundMe, but stalled at $20,000, half came from a single anonymous donor the [article](https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/christian-lawmakers-poll-satanists-093416940.html) says. I honestly thought this would be a slam dunk for Christians, anyone care to guess such a poor outcome for them? ---

Just voted. 92.4% no. Also accused the Christian scum of anti-Semitism - no Jews in office either, huh? Happily it seems that plenty of Christians think this guy is a moron just like atheists. ---

I have no twitter account, so cannot vote. But I think that the term Christian, _in the sense they intend it_, is a synonym for an antisemitic, likely racist, prick. Like that guy in Alabama, Roy Moore, that ran for the senate. ---

As a Christian myself, putting people in office in large part because of their belief in one religion vs another is a violation of the separation of church and state which I totally believe in. So I’m with the 96%. While I don’t live in the US, the same holds true for my country. ---

^^^I don’t know who or what the demographics were for Twitter users that voted, but I figured people making a poll like that would be a bit more political savvy, and would have seen a way to stack the votes in their favor reminding their congregations to get out and vote. Never seen one go off the rails like that before where I’m sure conservative Christians were expecting the very opposite of what they got, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the pounding they are receiving. I guess I underestimated the support of moderate and liberal Christians, and appreciate their help. ---
