Merry Christmas Eve. I am very sick. COVID with some asthma thrown in for fun. We did let **Wee Weasel** open a couple presents because neither of us are great company right now. He had a little event where he could pick out our presents at school and he got me a $5 “Mom” necklace. I shall wear it with pride. The tree really does look lovely. I think we’re just going to have to spread his Christmas presents out over several days, but **Wee Weasel** really doesn’t seem to mind. He is totally engrossed in an invisible ink project right now. You know, it is what it is. I have two very important people with me no matter how I feel. Best wishes to all of you. ---

Went to my daughter’s home and met up with all the other kids and grandkids there. My ex-wife was also there. We ignored each other. Good to see them all together again. Almost made it home before the skies opened up, so drove the last ten miles in pouring rain. Could hardly see the lane markings. Now we’re going to settle in for A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott, nosh on some cookies and relax. ---

Christmas eve pizza here. The dogs are being very cute. I’m trying to hold on to my last shreds of sanity after 12 weeks with a knee injury. Tomorrow will be a good hike with the doggos then killer mac n cheese with veggies and a good bottle of shiraz. Merry Christmas/Happy Hols/Happy Hannukah! ---

I shut off the central gas heat after lunch. I have a small fire going. I used kindling and a couple small logs. It’s rainy and 50 degrees. There’s a chill in the air that makes a fire worthwhile. Looks nice with the tree and presents. Looking forward to seeing family tomorrow. Today was very nice. We attended Church services this morning. It doesn’t work out on Christmas eve very often. _Merry Christmas everyone_ I’ve been here 14 years and I think of many of you as my extended friends now. Some consider me a nuisance. That reflects life too. We like some friends more than others. We never met and probably won’t. But usually I can confide here about things in life that I’m dealing with. ---

Merry Christmas eve all. New wife’s son & fiancée flew in from Chicago a couple days ago to stay with us for a week. Great fun. Wife’s daughter lives nearby and has 1 adopted and 6 foster children. Caring for the fosters is her fulltime paid job for a combined charity / government agency. We spent all day at daughter’s brightening the lives of kids being rescued from various shitty situations. Ages 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 9. Some are siblings, some are not. All are our impromptu family. They are each as adorable as can be, and so starved for sensible adult attention. We’ll all do the same on Xmas & the day after. And yes, all of you who I term my “imaginary friends” in IRL are quite real and quite important to me. And have been for decades. Merry Christmas to all, and especially to the ill and afflicted. Like the narrator in the original Grinch story said, it isn’t about carols & feasts, nor presents nor beasts. It’s about the fellowship you feel: for strangers, neighbors, and family alike. ---
