Christmas is upon us, it seems.

Arg I want highs in the 80s.

I can’t believe Christmas is here before thanksgiving. :(:(:(:(

My neighbour put up his Christmas lights a day or two ago. All the Hallowe’en stuff is out of the supermarket, and Christmas stuff is replacing it.

Yep, Christmas is upon us.

What, do you wait until the day before christmas to go buy your tree?

One of our local FM oldies rock stations switched to Christmas carols 24/7 on November first. I guess it’s dark enough in the evening not to feel completely out of place, but damn.

I was in the maul* today. Santa was there taking pictures with the kiddies already.

Ummm, what happened to Santa arriving at the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade? Or are they bringing him early for the Jews since Hanukkah is so early this year?

  • spelled like what happens there

Some department stores in Sydney had their Christmas trees and other paraphernalia for sale in August. Easter eggs and Hot Cross buns will be available in supermarkets on Boxing Day. Bastards.

Since our Thanksgiving comes 45 days earlier than the American one, Halloween is the traditional kickoff for Christmas shopping. I got an ad today (from Apple, no less) for their pre-black Friday sale (three weeks early). Our next door neighbor has orange lights on an evergreen tree but they might be left over from Halloween.

You know where egg-nog comes from, right?

I took my daughter to Disneyland for an early birthday present on Friday, and we found the Christmas decorations already up and Santa hats with mouse ears for sale. Also the Christmas parade went by at one point, seems they were filming the ABC Christmas special there this weekend, and the parade was part of it.

The minute the temperature dropped to “nice” (FL) I was ready to get the decorations out. A cousin in Michigan already has her tree up. Let the games begin!

I can’t wait.

Bah. Humbug.

Well, we get a real tree for one thing. Generally 5-7 days before. Once they go on sale.

I finished my Xmas shopping in March!

Three fourths done, but I’ll still go to mall to look at the lights. And ride around the neighborhoods to look at the lights. And go down to the boardwalk to look at the lights…

I get a tree on the solstice. I pick out a pitiful “Charlie Brown” tree and take it home and make it beautiful.

When I was young and poor, I would go to a lot on christmas eve and get a free tree after the workers were gone. These days, they pack up the trees and the lots are deserted by christmas eve morning.

I don’t personally celebrate christmas but I do like a beautiful tree.

I stopped caring about the early Christmas music when I stopped working retail.

bah humbug indeed… What a made up excuse for a holiday…

Christmas does not impress me in any way shape or form.
