Y’know the Christmas song “Feliz Navidad?” I always call it Fleece Navablah 'cause that’s what it sounds like they’re saying. And when I was little, and didn’t know there were languages other than English, I tried to make sense of it and decided they were saying “Release Mommy now.” I couldn’t figure out why they were so happy and wishing people Merry Christmases from the bottoms of their hearts when somebody had stolen their mother and wouldn’t give her back.

I had no idea what a “skimmo” was, or why someone would want to dress like one. I think I was in the grocery store one day listening to it and actually said out loud: “OHHHH! _ESKIMOS!!!_”

When my daughter Angie was about two and a half, she sang “Silent Night” for her great-grandmother in the nursing home. She knew all three verses.
But the part that goes “Shepherds quake” she heard “Shepherds squeak,” and sang it that way. We didn’t correct her for a couple of years, because we liked it better that way.

Well, when I was little, I couldn’t understand why the two kingdoms of Orrie and Tar needed three kings. Blush.
