Well, I like Christmas music, too. I was beginning to think I needed to write. pit thread about how everyone must say nasty things about Christmas music. Like a certain other subject that people can’t let go of. I like We Need A Little Christmas, the Ray Conniff version. I’ve been known to play it in the summer, too. There was a time (starting around January 1972) where I actively despised Christmas and Christmas music. The negative feeling abated somewhat over the years, but I still found the constant airplay of Christmas music from November through December to be quite annoying. This all changed when I was living in Russia and had a child. Moscow in December is bleak enough, but it’s even worse without any kind of festive music playing in the background. I was surprised I could miss it as much as I did. ---

Hehe, my wife noticed me whistling “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” earlier today. I have a pretty large collection of Christmas records that I inherited, mostly compilations released by tire store labels. Here’s something I was gob smacked to learn: you’ve doubtlessly heard the 1958 release of _[Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qYz7rfgLWE)_ by Brenda Lee as part of the inescapable Christmas soundtrack on the radio, in stores, etc. She was _thirteen_ when she recorded it. Give it a listen and tell me that voice hasn’t been through at least one divorce and a pack-a-day habit. ---
