That’s as scary as his Hammer Horror films! I do like him singing this version of “Ghostriders In The Sky.” It doesn’t sound much like him but it would seem to be true, from the album [Sings Devils, Rogues & Other Villains (From Broadway To Bayreuth And Beyond)](http://www.discogs.com/Christopher-Lee-sings-Devils-Rogues-other-Villains-from-Broadway-to-Bayreuth-and-beyond/release/2647202). One of my favorites, other than Lord of the Rings, is The Wicker Man from 1973. I love [this scene](http://youtu.be/LzCSSvMesxA), where he totally freaks out the god-fearing policeman. One thing that stuck with me is that because of his experience as a commando in WWII, he knew exactly how Saruman would react when stabbed in the back. Not an Olivier or Barrymore, nor did/does he pretend to be; but in his own way, one of the memorable actors of his time. ---

To the best of my recollection, I first saw Christopher Lee when my JHS screened [_Dracula Has Risen from the Grave,_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracula_Has_Risen_from_the_Grave) and he defined the role for me. I was up at Seattle Center today and saw an Imax movie about mummies. I spent the entire movie thinking to myself “Wait, is that Christopher Lee narrating?” I stayed for the credits in order to find out that, indeed, it was. Happy birthday, Chris. ---

You’ll be hard pressed to find a free clip online being how fascist NBC has become about YouTube, but I loved his **hosting of an early season episode of SNL** (1977 I think). His opening monologue (_“Dr. Terror’s House of Pancakes”_), his first sketch playing death visiting a little girl (_“No, the Romans did that…”_) to his introduction of musical guest Meatloaf (_"I’d like you to meet, Loaf!_"). ---

I recently watched that episode of SNL. I was surprised how funny he was - even a lot of the comedians who host can’t manage to be funny in their opening monologue. He came a cross as a little shy and very charming as well (the shy part also surprised me). ---

He cracked me up playing the mean dentist dad in the willy wonka remake. “Go ahead and leave. But if you come back, I wont be here” Willy comes back, his entre childhood house is missing, apparently Wonka sr moved to Antarctica ---
