Was Mohr the first person to imitate Walken? I never saw anybody do it before he did it on SNL, then EVERYBODY seemed to be doing it. Was he the “pioneer”?

Walken and Mohr made a movie together, the excellent suspense film Suicide Kings (usually available in the $5.50 DVDs at Target and Best Buy, highly recommended!) I always assume Mohr honed his grade-A Walken impression by hanging out with the man himself and becoming friends with him. Walken also plays a scary dude in that movie.
Kevin Spacey also did a great Walken impression on Saturday Night Live, playing Walken auditioning for the part of Han Solo in the original Star Wars movie.

I’m pretty sure Mohr was doing his Walken imitation before ‘Suicide Kings’. In fact, I heard an interview with Mohr where he talked about doing his imitation on the set and irritation Walken a bit.
OK, I checked with IMDB, he was on SNL (1993-1995), and Suicide Kings was (1997).
I agree that Spacey does a great Walken. Kevin Pollack too.
I’m not the greatest at doing impressions, but I try, and at least with some you know who I’m trying to do. I cannot even begin to imitate Walken for some reason.

Another performer whose stage voice and regular voice are very different is Chris Rock. On “Fresh Air,” Terry Gross noted that using his regular speaking voice, Rock sounds rather “sweet.”

Kevin Pollack also does a kick-ass Walken. I’m not sure how long he’s been doing it, however.
Anyone know if Walken has done any books on tape? I could listen to him talk all day.

My brother sent me an mp3 he found _ahem_somewhere_ahem_ of Walken reading _The Raven_ by Edgar Allen Poe. Now, THAT is creepy.

I’ve heard this as well, probably originally back when he got his first glimmers of fame from the Police Academy movies. Based on when I’ve heard him talking “normally” during interviews and what not since then, I have to say it sounds likely. While he does talk normally with typical volume and pitch control, it does seem a little laboured and a glimmer of the “comedic” voice will break through when he gets excited.

James Earl Jones also did _The Raven_ on the first Simpsons Halloween Special: he was _born_ for it.
