I wonder if this will end his pawn shopping. I would think a pawn broker would have to have somewhat of a clean record since pawn shops are historically associated with criminal activities. ---

The whole family and Chum have made incredible money off such a simple idea. Rick talks about shopping the idea to different networks in his book. It took quite awhile. Defense attorney David Chesnoff is representing Chum. He’s got his own Wikipedia page. His Vegas firm is ranked as one of the best out there. Obviously a lot of the show was set up and scripted as shit but I never understood the people who pawned stuff that was worth way more and not all the people looked like they were poor vagabonds. There was an episode where a guy sold him an old junk Coke vending machine for $100 if I remember correctly, and Rick just took it to someone else to restore it and likely made a nice little profit, or kept it but the guy that sold it to him presumably could have just taken the machine to the exact same guy and cut out the middle man. The haggling always blew my mind too, the customer would come in with something, Rick would say well its worth $8000, I’ll give you $400 for it, obviously I’m using hyperbole but why would you pawn something at such a huge loss? A lot of the people selling things on the show didn’t look like they were homeless, desperate people, just people who wandered in off the strip. On Chumlee, yeah I think he started to get pretty annoying as the show progressed but he was likeable to a degree. I haven’t watched the show in years, did he ever lose any weight like Corey did? ---

I think a lot of people who don’t sell, are on the show for the publicity. Maybe you need a medieval Hungarian stomach pump for your collection, but have no idea any exist. Some guy comes on the show with one, and now you know there’s one available for purchase. So do all of the other medieval Hungarian stomach pump collectors. So the seller will likely get bids from more people than he would if he’d just listed it on eBay, and make more money off of his item. ---

However if you want money right now you will only get what the person buying it right now is willing to pay. ---

I heard the officer in charge wasn’t at all sure whether it was meth in the safe or cocaine residue on the bill because drugs aren’t his area, but luckily he had a buddy he could call who specialized in this stuff. ---

what in the world will the “History” channel do without Pawn Stars? That seemed to be at least 75 percent of their programming. I guess we’re going to see a lot more of Swamp People and Vikings. ---

The sharks smell blood and Chum is dinner. Assuming the Warrant covers that safe. His only hope is his celebrity lawyer. Cut the best deal possible. It’s early and we don’t know all the details. We still don’t know anything about the alleged sexual assault. That could change everything. But, for the drugs and guns I think he’s going to do some prison time. Maybe even significant time if the lawyer can’t cut a great deal. It was in Chum’s safe. There’s no explanation for that. He probably is the only one that can open it. I met a friend of mine who was paid to fly out there with his item. It was clear they had done a lot of research on the item in question. (I have to admit that I find it increasing irksome when Rick spouts off his memorized paragraph on a mid-19th century toy as if he’s an expert.) Long story short when they made the deal and Rick said OK let’s do some paperwork, and they said “cut’” my friend still owned his toy. There was in fact no deal, and they made that clear from the start. When Stan asked if they really wanted to buy it, Rick sent him to one of the other guys not on the show to work a deal on the toy (they didn’t make one). So he went home and put the toy on Ebay and got about 40% more than Rick was willing to pay in the segment. ---

I read the police report. Chum got busted under a Nevada gun law. NRS 202.360 Basically any drug user can be busted for having a gun. Even if its just weed. Any unlawful user can get busted for having a gun.
