Our resident leftist radical, **Chumpsky,** is a naive fool who gets entangled in debates about subjects that he knows little about. The prime example would be [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=148370&pagenumber=1) thread, wherein people discuss Chavez’s presidency in Venezuela. The South American and Central American posters are baffled about his assertions. He tells them they’re just liars, and gives them a condescending tone. **Chumpsky,** you are NOT in Venezuela! Chavez is ruining Venezuela’s economy by all accords- by the local’s accords, by the Wall Street Journal’s accords, by South American economist’s accords- he is NOT some savior to the poor, you sap! Chavez is a demagogue. He’s like a leftist version of Huey Long, in South America. You seem to lack critical thinking when it comes to this, and you support your radical claims to the end- you call your opponents liars, and schmucks. Please, **Chumpsky,** open your eyes to reality and acquire a capacity to objectively view subjects, without your radical ideologies pervading and confusing your ability to think critically and view both sides of an argument. \ ---

I forsee a train wreck in the making. He is absolutely incapable of seeing anything but Bush, the military, and corporations and their evilness. To quote Tom Clancy: “He’s so friggin’ narrow-minded his scratch pads are only an inch wide”. ---

In defense of Chumpsky I might point out that a lot of his arguments (when he bothers to actually make arguments, you have to wade through a lot of unsupported allegations to find them) and views are legitamate. He just needs to tone down the rhetoric and hyperbole. And if he doesn’t exactly have an objective world view, well, one could say the same for a number of posters. There are several posters around who seem to feel compelled to jump into every debate with “snarky” comments which add nothing to the discussion and are so vague and meaningless that they can’t possibly be refuted or argued (see my own comment in the Venezuela thread as an example). At least Chumsky takes a stand and says things that can be refuted and discussed (and made fun of). The problem is just that, like UFO reports, he can churn the allegations out a lot faster than anyone can possibly respond to them. ---

Well, except for calling every poster in the Venezuela thread liars without providing himself any cite to his outrageous assertions I don’t see him as providing anything but amusement. That is if you are amused by mosquitoes buzzing in your ears. I am inclined to believe that he just enjoys the attention. ---
