Everyone who considers themselves familiar with Winston Churchill (1871-1947), raise your hand.

That would be the romance novelist Winston Churchill.

The wildly successful [American romance novelist Winston Churchill](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winston_Churchill_%28novelist%29), so famous in his time that the other one was in his shadow.

I’d heard of him. As the Wiki article noted, he and the later-much-better-known British politico agreed to use different names in their published works. The Brit used “Winston S. Churchill,” as the American lacked a middle name.

Churchill mentions him in My Early Life. They exchanged an amusing pair of [letters](http://thewhistlefactory.wordpress.com/2012/10/03/letter-from-winston-spencer-churchill-to-winston-churchill/).

Incidentally a while back I was checking for early books by Churchill on Gutenberg and I was excited to find The Crisis which I thought might be his history of World War 1 ( called the World Crisis) but no it turned out to be a novel by the other Churchill. I was quite amused that the two were still getting mixed up on the 21st century Internet.

I often mention him. Haven’t had a chance to read him except in an old [Classics Comic](http://www.amazon.com/Classics-Illustrated-Crisis-No-145-5/dp/B0011VWCS0/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1401393806&sr=1-1) when I was a kid.

Heh, it is great that they both took it with such good form. 🆒

I never heard of this “other Churchill”; now I’m curious to read his stuff.

I’ve seen his books in the library, but never read one. I have read the short novel that Winston Churchill (the statesman) wrote, [Savrola](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savrola). It wasn’t bad, as I recall.
