The IT guy asking Reddit for help doesn’t make him incompetent crappy, just immoral crappy. The IT guy correctly knew he didn’t know how to do something, and sought outside verification whether it was just him or whether it was actually impossible. That’s actually a smart thing to do, _if_ you’re not trying to help somebody tamper with evidence before handing it to the FBI.
