Actually, there are some contexts (notably, the four cups on Passover night) in which there is a specific preference for wine over grape juice, though even then, one can fulfill the obligation with grape juice if for whatever reason they can’t use wine.

I’d also wager that when there was sacrificial service in the Holy Temple, grape juice would not have been acceptable for the libation offerings, but I’m not looking that up right now.

You absolutely must have wine to give to the baby after a bris. The mohel will be very unhappy if you show up with grape juice.
