Having Tom Cruise in the next Star Trek movie might be just what the francise needs to lift it to ‘so bad it’s good’ territory - so I hope they do it. That’s the only way I’d ever pay to see a star trek movie. ---

Kirk: Xenuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Nah, it just doesn’t work. 😃 Seriously, I’m a bit ambivalent about this. I still like Cruise as a movie star, even if he’s a crazy asshole in real life. With the right producer and director, I could see his presence helping Trek. Of course, the public would have to be willing to pay to see him, and right now the public still hasn’t forgiven him for being batshit crazy and obnoxious about it. On the plus side, he could bring new levels of sincerity to space opera, since he’d _actually believe all of it!_ They’d just have to make the Enterprise look like a DC-10. ---

I would guess he would just be acting in a Star Trek movie, and it’s not like Paramount has banned him from all Paramount movies. ---
