Why can you get away with saying something like this, but when I do it I’m a “syncophant” or a “mind reader”?
Well you cannot wear white if you are an audience member at an Oprah taping. FWIW.
scratches out eyes at thought of Cindy topless…
Really? I’m not doubting you, but cite?
Oedipus complex?
Oh, wait.
Sheehan is filing a lawsuit. I hope she wins.
As for the capital police and the “disclaimer” that they didn’t know the law, well here’s a perfect response, and it’s the same one all police use when a perp says “I didn’t know”
IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE.
I haven’t been in threads lately that you’ve been in, besides this one obviously, so I’m not sure. I hope there’s some tangible difference. Got a for-instance?
This is what scares me–
Enforce an* unwritten interpretation*? Are interpretations enforceable, unwritten or not? But especially not?
This is blithering idiocy; primo Newspeak.
Gestaspo?
Is that a new form of potato?
I think it’s a chilled vegetable soup.
Yeah:
It appears that reasonable assumption given both history and the circumstances of the evening is wrong unless, of course, you are perceived to be on the right side of things, which I quite clearly am not. The only right answer is that Cindy Sheehan can do anything she wants anywhere she wants to do it because to do otherwise abridges her rights to free speech, it seems. And, of course, her freedom comes at the expense of mine, because I’ve caught 5 pages of hell for exercising it, the right to denounce her in a manner I see fit.
You know, the very right you are claiming she has.
Gesundheit.
Well, yeah. Sheehan says something. She has the right. Then you have the right to say she’s a douche nozzle, then someone ELSE has the right to say YOU’RE a poopyhead for calling her a douche nozzle, etc.
No one said that the right to freedom of speech means people can’t tell you you’re full of shit.
Well, I suppose that’s a fair assessment.
No offense intended, I hope you didn’t take it that way. You can call me a douche nozzle anytime Seargent.
Some of her family has, but she is often shown with her sister, who certainly hasn’t. In fact, the video I saw of her (I think it was right after her release) was her walking with her sister.
At least the vast majority of Democrats have been wise enough to keep her at a distance. Except for a few electoral districts (like maybe San Francisco), she’d be kryptonite for anyone running for office.
If I were the President making a speech about democracy and freedom and ridding the world of tyranny, I would request that everyone in attendance dress in t-shirts making a political statement of some sort – even if it is just a request for bi-partisanship or love of country.
Wouldn’t that be a beautiful affirmation about the State of our Union?
Unfortunately, the statement that was made is very plain: Freedom is a convenient and pretty word.
Now, if someone had gotten the Mods to delete your OP because they didn’t agree with what you said, that would be an example of someone trying to suppress your freedom of speech.
I don’t even have a problem with you or anybody else thinking Cindy Sheehan is a toolbag, or saying so, or wearing a T-shirt that says “Cindy Sheehan is a toolbag”. I do have a problem with someone arresting Cindy Sheehan for being a toolbag, regardless of the fact that being a toolbag is not a crime.
and a good word to use instead of the word “French”.
Oprah owns Harpo Productions and the studio where her show is filmed. Someone else owns the Chicago Reader and the right to censor SDMB.
But George Bush and the members of Congress are public servants. The Capitol belongs to American citizens.
