Cinema's Greatest One Hit Wonders

Actually, Jeff Fenholt, although the star of JCS on Broadway, didn’t appear in the movie at all. Ted Neely had the part:

I can’t even find an entry for Fenholt on the IMDB. It appears that he had no film career at all.

Anderson did, but mostly on TV. He did appear in The Color Purple, though:

Neeley appeared in a few flicks:

How you can forget her star turn in Die! Die! My Darling! is beyond my powers to comprehend.

Besides, that bitch Bette Davis stole all of Tallulah’s best parts.

She was in Saved! a couple years ago.

Gosh yes. I was sure he was going to be the next James Dean. The last movie I saw him in was Big Bad Love, wouldn’t have recognized him if he wasn’t credited, he played an old coot.

I also thought Christopher Jones and Michael Parks had a James Dean vibe. Jones was excellent in Wild in the Streets and then nothing, far as I know. Parks should have broken out from his TV series – I think it was called Then Came Bronson – but I guess TPTB figured one James Dean was enough.

How about Tatum O’Neal?

RE Bud Cort: Wasn’t he in Altman original MASH movie?

as to the one-hit-wonders: what about the lead in that “Young Sherlock Holmes” movie? He was pretty good, but I’ve not seen him since.

Michelle Forbes had a big role in a Brad Pitt movie called “Kalifornia” but went nowhere movie-wise after that.

Without IMDB, can anyone tell me what Joseph Fiennes has done since “Shakespeare in Love”?

Probably child stars are the most numerous OHWs, such as the kid who played the lead in “A Christmas Story”.

I believe he was in Luther (not “The Vandross Story”) with Alfred Molina and Peter Ustinov.

Oh! And he got to nail Heather Graham in Killing Me Softly.

I was a young teen when **Clash of the Titans ** came out. I thought the girl lead (Judi Bowkker?) was just so cute!

Never saw her in anything else.

(Harry Hamlin has gone on to other things, but I mosty associate him with TV roles)

Agree totally. Aside from a bit part in Lost Boys, I think he dropped off the radar screen.

Not true at all. She had her nose fixed after filming had wrapped. Unfortunately, several scenes had to be re-shot, so it’s hardly her fault, let alone unprofessional. Hollywood contracts generally contain a clause forbidding actors from significantly modifying their appearance during filming, and if she’d’ve done what you suggest, I’m sure there would’ve been a major lawsuit for breach of conract against her, and there wasn’t.

I’ve seen him in one thing since. In Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, he’s the stoner who gets his foot blown off by the baddies.

What about the guy who played Roy Stalin, the one who steals away Beth from Lane Meyer (John Cusack) in Better Off Dead? I don’t recall seeing him in anything else.

Well I don’t think I would even consider him a one hit wonder, he was minor in the movie, but your right, I never saw him again.

Jim

Surely you’re not disregarding her starring role in the seminal coming-of-age movie Little Darlings, also starring Kristy McNichol and Matt Dillon?

Forgot that one. It was a favorite of my daughter’s. (Knew I shoulda checked IMDB.)

Wasn’t she the girl pitcher in the original Bad new Bears and an Oscar nom or Oscar for Paper Moon?

Jim

I was really surprised to find out that Michael Bolton was the same Dave Herman who does hilarious voice work on King of the Hill and Futurama.

I’m assuming that her Oscar-winning performance in Paper Moon was the one hit she was getting credited with. Although BNB was a pretty big hit as well (with her being more of an ensemble player than a standout star).

She was second bill from my memory, but I see what you mean.

Enemy at the Gates–great flick.

What has Gary Burgdorf done but MAS*H?

Jeanne Eagels, the noted stage actress, only made two sound films (and of these, one is lost) before her heroin-connected death in 1929.

One of these (and the one that survives), The Letter, resulted in her receiving a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

(And, yes, this is all off the top of my head)

Natasha Lyonne in Slums of Beverly Hills. She’s had some crappy roles since then and is now infamously washed-up.
